After a frantic last few weeks of rehearsal, with Keith our director pulling out his remaining few strands of hair, Aladdin opened at the King's Hall on 8th January.  1400 people joined us to celebrate the magic of panto and, judging by the laughter and applause, thoroughly enjoyed it.

As usual, the most treasured memories are when things went wrong!   So - just to share a couple:

Saturday night and the genie's magic flash goes off early.  Shortly after Steve leaps onto stage clad in a few blue sequins, raises his hands and brightly cries "Pouf!".  Audience and entire cast collapse into helpless laughter.

Sunday and the video doesn't start - so the evil Abanazzar entertains the audience with shadow puppetry and a quick lesson in Latin!

....oh, and we've promised not to mention Keith and the biscuits, so we won't.

Chorus offered an hilarious peek behind the scenes of an am dram society.
Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society (PALOS)  is rehearsing for its latest production of A Beggar's Opera, when a new member joins them.  Guy, an innocent and well meaning man is unable to say "no" to any of the offers that come his way and soon finds himself embroiled with female members of the cast, a shady land deal and an increasingly large part in the production!    Add to this a manic Welsh director, the local nymphomaniac and a bolshy stage manager, and the result is chaos.

Chorus was Theatrecraft's 2004 entry in the Kent Drama Festival and
received eight awards, including the Finch Trophy for Best Debut Performance (Terry Thompton as Guy).  It was placed in the top five entries in the Festival.

Theatrecraft's Summer Production is the well known musical by Frank Loesser based on the characters of Damon Runyon.

A Fable of Broadway

The plot revolves around a bet made by gambler Sky Masterson with Nathan Detroit, organizer of a floating crapgame.

Sky bets Nathan that he can woo any doll Nathan chooses and take her to a romantic Havana getaway. Nathan chooses none other than straightlaced Sarah Brown of the Salvation Army.

The status of the bet, the crap game, and the 14-year engagement of Nathan and his girl, Adelaide, result in confusion amidst great songs and dance, including Luck be a Lady Tonight, If I were a Bell, and the showstopping Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat.
