Excellent audiences, beautiful weather and fantastic performances - what more could we want?

In the best tradition of the theatre - there were times at the beginning of the week when it seemed it would NEVER be right!   Illness, absences, missing keys, back stage heroes who struggled with a heavy set under record temperatures.....but, by the Dress on Tuesday, the magic had started, and continued right through the week.

It will be a long time before Box Office forgets having to stand to sell the final few tickets, with a sell out audience and everyone scurrying around trying to find extra seats!   Audience reaction was great, with leaving comments such as "superb" - "fantastic show", "Theatrecraft's best yet" - "Is that her own hair?"
Several people enjoyed the show so much they came back Saturday with their friends!

Over fifteen hundred people flocked to the Kings Hall for Theatrecraft's 2003 Panto.

Despite terrible weather at the beginning of the week (which included the night we almost got snowed in at the tech rehearsal!) the production was a great success.
The cast well deserved the applause and compliments.  A special thanks to the back stage team for the marvellous set, together with lighting and sound.

The Play

Hilarious and touching, this play for six women is set in a beauty parlour somewhere in Louisiana.  Through four scenes spanning three years, Clairee, Ouiser, M'Lynn and Shelby, (Truvy's regular customers) and Annelle, her eager but inexperienced assistant, engage in small town gossip, running the gamut of the birth/marriage/death cycle.
The play was well received by larger audiences than sometimes in the past!   Marion Baldwin of the KDA gave a most appreciative adjudication Saturday night which resulted in two nominations:  Cheryl for Best Supporting Actress and Katherine as "Best Newcomer".    Cheryl was narrowly pipped at the post, but we are delighted to report that Katherine won as BN.  Anyone who saw this 16 year old playing Shelby will applaud the decision.   A beautiful performance.

The production also raised £185 for Diabetes UK.  Many thanks to all
